Stichting Voortgezet Onderwijs Lelystad (SVOL) is expanding its collaboration with Managed Service Provider Avit Group. The SVOL is bringing its three different secondary schools together in a new, modern campus 'Porteum' that will soon be completed. The SVOL commissioned strategic partner Avit Group to migrate the existing technological environment and simultaneously design a new IT infrastructure. Together, an ICT infrastructure will be realized that makes a modern, safe and challenging educational environment possible, in which students and employees can excel.
In the past, the SVOL and Avit have worked closely together when it comes to implementing, maintaining and managing networking, data centers, identity & access management and security. Now that SVOL, with 3,700 students and more than 400 employees, is moving to a new educational campus, they are seizing the opportunity to further optimize the technological infrastructure. Given the good collaboration from the past and the knowledge and experience of Avit in the educational field, both parties have extended their partnership.
The partnership means, among other things, that Avit will provide and implement solutions related to the network environment (LAN / WLAN / WAN), set up the data center, propose the right security measures and effect links with cloud services. In addition, Internet of Things solutions are implemented, e.g. in the context of camera surveillance. Links to primary applications such as Learning Management Systems are also being established. Finally, SVOL will be fully relieved of the burden and Avit will take over the management of the complete IT environment through managed services.
Barry Lommen, SVOL board member: "Porteum will be a place where secondary school students from Lelystad can meet and feel at home. We offer them all the facilities they need to be optimally prepared for a successful future. An innovative yet robust and secure IT environment is a fundamental part of this. I am pleased that we can rely on the knowledge and experience of Avit. I am convinced that together we can build an infrastructure that opens the gateway to the future for Porteum."
Marcel Martens, Sector Unit Manager Education at Avit: "I am looking forward to working with our specialists at Avit to realize a completely new IT infrastructure for the SVOL on a beautiful educational campus. With this we lay the foundation for a future-proof and flexible educational environment. This allows us to respond quickly to new developments, as we have recently seen with distance education. The SVOL does not hesitate to use innovative solutions and that is a sign of their level of ambition."
